Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz is a fruit-forward combination of two great red wine varieties, known colloquially as 'The Great Australian Red Blend'.
Best known for its commanding role in the wines of Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon provides much of the framework in this blend, but is often said to be lacking in the mid palate ('the doughnut effect'). Happily, Australian-grown Shiraz is famously good at providing juicy, jammy fruit flavors which fill out the mid palate. The two combined to create complex, complex wines full of bright-berry and dark-fruit flavors.
