Winemaker's Notes Our Castle Rock Merlot is produced from grapes grown in Californias Mendocino County, where vineyards were first planted in the early 1860s. Here, the headwaters of the Russian River carve a fertile and rugged landscape. The warm summers, cool springs, crisp falls and wet winters make ideal growing conditions for producing Merlot grapes. This elegant wine has a deep ruby color and velvety textures. On the palate, it combines complex flavors of plums, cherries, blueberries, blackberries and blackpepper with low tannin levels, and it finishes long and harmoniously.
In any season, our Castle Rock Merlot will complement most cuisines. It is an especially pleasing accompaniment to pastas, grilled and roasted meats, as well as an assortment of cheeses. |
